Island is one of Australia’s leading literary magazines; a print-only quarterly of ideas, writing and culture. Based in Tasmania, Island publishes new fiction, essays, artworks and poetry from around the world. It began life in 1979 and over its 35 year life-span, Island has published works by David Ireland, Marshall McLuhan, Richard Flanagan, Amanda Lohrey, Charlotte Wood, Robert Dessaix, Christos Tsiolkas, Frank Moorhouse, Tim Winton, Geordie Williamson, Tim Ferguson and many more.
In 2015, it has also announced a literary partnership with the Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) and David Walsh, as well as a move to becoming a print-only publication.
