INSPIRED BY VERSAILLES
‘THE CHATEAU WAS A SLEEPING BEAUTY – A FAMILY HOME THAT NEEDED TO BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE AND UPDATED’ Miren and Nicolas de Lorgeril’s family have been making wine in Languedoc for 12 generations, their vintages finding favour with the royal residents of Versailles. So it’s perhaps fitting that the dynasty’s home, Château de Pennautier, evokes that iconic palace.
The similarity is no coincidence. It was Nicolas’s ancestor Bernard Reich de Pennautier, treasurer of the States of Languedoc, who built the château back in 1620, and just two years later – on 14 July 1622 – hosted Louis XIII when he visited southern France. We can be sure that Bernard’s home made a good impression on the young King, because he left as a gift his personal four-poster bed…

THE INSIDE STORY
JODIE IS ALL BRIGHT ON THE NIGHT
Jodie Turner-Smith stole the spotlight at the inaugural London amfAR gala in a daring orange bodysuit from Jean Paul Gaultier’s SS26 ready-to-wear collection, paired with a blue cape. The suit’s bust was a nod to the designer’s legendary conical bra, made famous by Madonna in 1990.
The gala marked the first event hosted by amfAR (the American Foundation for Aids Research) in London, with attendees including Julia Fox and Dame Tracey Emin.
The night was hosted by Joely Richardson, with actress Jodie on MC duties and performances by Grace Jones and Jess Glynne. The event raised $2.1m for the charity.

FLYING THE FLAG
It was billed as Britain’s answer to New York’s glittering Met Gala, as famous faces from the worlds of fashion, music, film and society gathered at the British Museum for its inaugural ball last weekend.
Flying the flag for her country, the Streatham-born supermodel Naomi Campbell led the glamorous arrivals in a vintage Union Jack dress by Alexander McQueen for Givenchy.
The singer Janet Jackson also jetted into London to attend the starry event, posing for photographers on the pink carpet in a voluminous scarlet Stéphane Rolland couture gown.
The evening was co-chaired by the arts patron and businesswoman Isha Ambani and the museum’s director, Dr Nicholas Cullinan. Isha, who attended with her stylish mother, Nita, wore a hand-woven satin jacket and skirt by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla that took…
SCREEN SIRENS
The Academy Museum Gala retained its status as one of the most glamorous charity events of the year, with guests including Demi Moore, Sydney Sweeney, Laura Dern and Eva Longoria Bastón donning their finest couture to walk the blue carpet.
Elegant in a burgundy floor-length Prada gown with Cartier jewels, Demi attended the gala, held inside the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, as a member of the event’s hosting committee.
She also found the time to enjoy a reunion with her former Charlie’s Angels co-star Lucy Liu, who was resplendent in a violet gown by Miss Sohee. Lucy later shared an image on Instagram of the pair holding hands, captioning it with the words: “Pure joy @academymuseum … and sharing it all with dear friends.”
Demi wrote: “A beautiful evening…
SO LONG, DANCING QUEENS
Tess Daly has been the host of Strictly Come Dancing since it premiered 21 years ago. So when she and her co-presenter Claudia Winkleman announced last week that they were quitting the hit show at the end of this series, it sent shockwaves through the showbusiness world.
“We have news; after 21 wonderfully joyful years on Strictly, we have decided that the time is right to step aside and pass over the baton,” Tess said in a video recorded with Claudia, who added: “We’re so lucky to have been part of this amazing show.”
The pair, who started presenting the BBC1 programme together in 2014, are also lucky to have forged a strong friendship, which began just after Claudia welcomed her son Jake, now 23.
“I remember the first time…
KEEPING THE FAITH
The King expressed his sadness as he made a moving first visit to Manchester since the attack on a synagogue in the city earlier this month. In a show of support for the Jewish community, His Majesty travelled to Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue last Monday.
The attack took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, was shot dead by police as he targeted the place of worship. Melvin Cravitz, 66, and Adrian Daulby, 53, were killed and three others were injured.
“I can’t tell you how sad I am,” the King told a group including the synagogue’s chairman, Alan Levy, who helped barricade the door during the attack, and its president, Hilary Foxler. Later, when he met other members of the congregation,…
ROYAL VISIT HEALS VATICAN RIFT
It was history in the making as the King and Queen met Pope Leo XIV for the first time on a state visit to the Vatican.
The encounter between the leader of the Roman Catholic Church and the Supreme Governor of the Church of England was always going to be hugely symbolic.
But Charles, who has for so long been an advocate for unity between different faiths, went a step further, taking part in a moment that represented an end to centuries of division.
In the simple utterance of the word “Amen”, he became the first British monarch in modern history to pray publicly alongside a pontiff, during a special ecumenical service held in the magnificent surroundings of the Sistine Chapel.

‘MONARCHY’S WORST CRISIS IN LIVING MEMORY
The King and the Prince of Wales have joined forces to steer the royal family through what has been described as the monarchy’s worst crisis since the abdication of Edward VIII in 1936.
Prince William was on hand as His Majesty held crisis talks with aides in relation to damaging revelations about Prince Andrew, leading to the decision that the monarch’s younger brother would give up the title of Duke of York and other honours, including his membership of the Order of the Garter.
Royal sources say that the King and his heir are “in lockstep” as they try to move on from the latest scandal to engulf Andrew, after new details about his friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and his association with Chinese spies forced His…
‘WE’RE LIVING OUR BEST LIVES’
Jane Seymour is one of the UK’s most glamorous exports: an actress who went from Hayes to Hollywood, with era-defining performances as a Bond girl and the lead role in the wildly successful American historical drama Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman.
At 74, she looks incredible as she poses in the grounds of her Malibu home for this exclusive shoot and interview with hello! – her long hair rippling across her lean frame, her smile wide and dazzling and her skin radiant.
That undeniable glow can be attributed, in part, to unexpectedly falling in love again in her seventies. It’s just over two years since she met the “amazingly brilliant” emergency room doctor and musician John Zambetti, 78.
“I honestly never thought I would find a really committed, healthy, lovely, loving…
