It was 10 years ago that my wife Dianne and I flew to Europe. I can’t help thinking how that trip influenced our lives. We landed in Paris and went straight to an Internet cafe to let our friends and family know we had landed safely.

At the time I ran an online guide to cafés and restaurants in Perth called but had not given it much time of late. I had only a few minutes of Internet time left and thought I would log in for a joke and show Dianne that someone in Paris was reading our web site.

This is where it all changed. We were getting so much traffic that it only made sense to turn it into a magazine. All my life I had been in print media, and fate had its way. Our plans for the trip changed, and we wined and dined our asses off. Breweries, wineries, limoncello, coffee ... Nothing was off limits.

This issue marks the end of our first 10 years of publishing and if you take a look at our first issue and this one you will see we have truly adapted to the changing world of hospitality. Today we are one of the few independent magazines in Australia and we are going strong.

To our surprise we even got our first award for the cover of the last issue, thanks to Scott Print for entering us. Lets see what happens with this one.

This issue we have featured Goa as our travel destination and we had the pleasure of interviewing Marco Pierre White as this issue’s celebrity chef. I heard the patron saint of brewers was St Arnold so we had to include him as he must be related to me somewhere along the line. We talk about coffee farming and where pies originated from. We take a look at today’s food and fashion and where the top café strip or food hot spots are.
