This Week In… New Idea
It’s been a jam-packed week in Hollywood, that’s for sure! After her travels around Australia on tour (lucky you if you managed to get tickets!), Katy’s Perry’s romance with Orlando Bloom has been called into question (page 22). But as one relationship reportedly struggles, another has been saved – seeing Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt hamming it up on the red carpet in London was definitely not on my bingo card (page 18). Who could forget their famous fallout over 30 years ago?!
Speaking of fallouts, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness have finalised their divorce at long last, Cruz Beckham has thrown shade at big brother Brooklyn, and Kelsey Grammer has some exciting news to share with his fans. So put your feet up, pour a cup of tea and…
Divorce Terms Revealed!
Their marriage spanned 27 years, and they’ve been separated since September 2023 – but in the end Hugh Jackman and Deborralee Furness finalised their divorce just one month after its official filing.
“There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement, but in the end [Deb] got what she believed she deserved,” a source told the Daily Mail. “Both are coming out of this financially secure.”
Sky News Australia reported that jointly, the couple are thought to be worth $370 million. The majority of the fortune was amassed by Hugh’s proceeds from his starring roles in the Wolverine films. It’s not thought Hugh, 56, or producer Deb, 69, had signed a prenuptial agreement.
The former couple wed in 1996 after meeting on the set of Australian TV series Correlli…
First Days With Baby
Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof has welcomed her first child with husband Ben Archer, with sources telling New Idea it’s a bittersweet time for the new mum. While it’s unclear when exactly Tiger, 28, gave birth, she and Ben were spotted pushing their new bundle of joy around their London neighbourhood several times last week. On one occasion, a blue blanket was seen poking out of the stroller, leading many to speculate they might have welcomed a son.
Tiger lost both her parents, Aussie INXS frontman Michael Hutchence and British TV presenter Paula Yates, at a young age. She was then adopted by her mum’s ex, Sir Bob Geldof.
“There’s no doubt Michael and Paula would be ecstatic [at becoming grandparents]” reveals our source. “Tiger was toying with honouring them somehow…
‘My Heartbreaking Childhood’
She’s found fame and fortune thanks to her long career as an actress, but Brenda Blethyn has revealed she grew up in abject poverty post-World War II.
“We were very poor,” the Vera star shared during an interview which aired recently on Channel Seven’s Spotlight. “We lived in a slum actually.”
Brenda, 79, was raised in Ramsgate, Kent, the youngest of nine siblings. In a previous 2022 interview, she also explained, “The whole lot of us were crammed into a house with only two bedrooms.
“There was only cold water and an outside lavatory. There was no electricity.”
But Brenda also said at the same time her parents were very loving and that she would perform “little plays” for amusement which fostered her “lust for entertaining”.
Brenda began her acting…
The Ring Is Off!
When a sombre and solo Hailey Bieber stepped out in New York last week – minus her wedding and engagement rings – talk that her marriage to Justin Bieber was in trouble reached a crescendo.
This was followed by a social media post from Justin which read, “B---h, if you’re giving me the silent treatment at least tell me why!”
While there’s no confirmation that the message was directed at model Hailey, it further raised concerns.
“[They’re] struggling,” a source told Entertainment Tonight last week. “Justin feels like Hailey can be superficial about the way their relationship looks in the public eye, and [his] apparent lack of motivation has been upsetting for her.”
Hailey, 28, and Justin, 31, wed in 2019 and welcomed a son, Jack Blues, last August. Since…
Burns Brooklyn
The youngest Beckham son has taken a spicy dig at the eldest as their alleged family feud rages on. Cruz, 20, recently shared a video of his single ‘For Ya Love’ on TikTok. He then replied to a comment asking about his next move – by mocking Brooklyn, 26.
The commenter asked, “Are you going to stick with this or become a race car driver next?” Cruz sniped, “Wrong brother, mate.” It seemed to be a reference to Brooklyn’s many short-lived business endeavours, as well as his new interest in racing. Ouch!…
Exciting Baby News
New Idea recently revealed that Andy Allen and his wife, Alexandra, have purchased a flash new two-storey house in Melbourne’s Inner North.
Now, the MasterChef judge has announced that he and Alex hope to hear the patter of little feet in their $3.85 million home!
In a new interview with The Daily Telegraph, Andy, 37, confirmed that babies are hopefully on the horizon.
“My family and my wife [are very important],” he told the publication. “I’m hoping one day I’ll have a family of my own with Alex, which will be nice.”
Andy, who became a MasterChef judge in 2020 after winning the competition in 2012, met Alex at a party shortly after he claimed victory. They reconnected a few years later and started dating, eventually marrying in 2022 in…
On The Move!
The Fren family live out of their suitcases for the six months of the year it takes to film Travel Guides. Which could be the reason why parents Cathy and Mark have listed their three-bedroom penthouse apartment in Newcastle, NSW for sale.
The sprawling inner-city property also boasts three bathrooms and a rooftop terrace offering sweeping views of Newcastle Harbour. It is expected to attract offers in the region of $2.9 to $3.15 million.
The Frens, who appear on the show with their adult children Victoria and Jonathan, purchased the property in 2013. At the time they owned the nearby restaurant Oma’s Kitchen.
“We moved in when we had our restaurant,” Mark told view.com.au. “We could just walk to the shop and we loved it because it’s just a really…
‘We’re Ending Youth Violence’
Sam Davis was the kind of kids others flocked to. At 17 he had a close-knit group of friends, a devoted family and his sights set on a promising career in sport.
The teen seemed to have it all figured out – but that didn’t matter on May 3, 2008, when being in the wrong place at the wrong time tragically brought all Sam’s dreams to a close.
Sam was at a local party when three gatecrashers arrived. One of them coward punched an unsuspecting Sam from behind, and he sadly passed away in hospital the next day.
It was devastating for Sam’s father, Neil, his mother Nat Cook, and the entire South Adelaide community of Brighton where he grew up.
“You think things like this happen to other people…
Karl Fooled Everyone!
It’s a tough economic climate out there – anyone who’s anyone knows that. But while the vast majority of the country continues to pray for more rate cuts and relief as the cost of living keeps skyrocketing, it seems the same cannot be said for Channel Nine’s golden boy, Karl Stefanovic.
And this time, even his colleagues, many of whom he calls his very best mates, are finally seeing red.
Last week, The Australian reported that Karl, 50, has all but signed on the dotted line for a $3-million-a-year deal with Nine. The multi-year contract will see the Today host pocket a tidy pay rise, after he was believed to have signed a $2.8 million a year deal back in 2022.
Whether or not the $3 million speculation is accurate,…
