1. WHAT ARE AUSTRALIAN TRAVELLER AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVELLER MAGAZINE? WHO ARE THEY FOR AND WHAT DO THEY COVER?
Australian Traveller is Australia’s only magazine dedicated to travelling within our own country. It’s for every Australian keen to explore their own backyard and covers coast to outback and everything in between: from all the latest happenings in our capital cities to regions on the rise and incredible journeys in the remotest of reaches.
Our sister title International Traveller covers everywhere else in the world! It’s for modern explorers who want to know where to travel overseas next (and how to do so with a light footprint). We take fresh looks at all the places Aussies love most and uncover emerging and off-the-beaten-track destinations so our readers can get there first.
Both magazines feature a mix of narrative storytelling, the latest hotel openings and cruise news, and thought leadership that looks at the trends defining travel today.
2. WHAT CAN READERS EXPECT FROM AUSTRALIAN TRAVELLER AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVELLER MAGAZINE IN THE COMING MONTHS?
In Australian Traveller, we’re looking ahead to our ‘Anti-Bucket List’ issue – which is all about slow, immersive journeys in our own backyards and seeing our favourite places from a fresh perspective. It will showcase a leisurely houseboat holiday on the Murray River, a trip to the Red Centre in low season, a walking holiday in the Margaret River region, an expedition cruise and more. We’re also in the planning stages of our 100 Best Aussie towns issue, which lands in May – so stay turned to see if your favourite town makes the list and discover new ones to visit next.
In International Traveller, we have just published our 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards – the results are an interesting pulse-take of where Australians are dreaming about travelling right now. . I’m also excited about our ‘The Golden Age of Travel is Now’ issue coming up next June – where we’ll make the case that we’re living in the best time for travel ever.
3. HAS DIGITAL IMPACTED YOUR APPROACH TO THE MAGAZINE OR WHAT READERS WANT FROM THE MAGAZINE??
Australian Traveller launched in 2005 and the evolving digital landscape since then has made us double down on what we do best – creating beautiful, inspiring magazines that offer our readers a moment of pause in their busy lives. We’re proud to have recently relaunched AustralianTraveller.com and continue to innovate and take our online offering to the next level but our print magazines will always be an important part of our publishing ecosystem. The fact our readers still love leafing through a physical print product that has been put together with care and consideration tells us that even in the digital age there is an appetite for longform travel narratives to linger over on a Sunday morning. (And our magazines look great on your coffee table!)
4. IF AUSTRALIAN TRAVELLER AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVELLER MAGAZINES HAD A MOTTO, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
We connect Australians to their next incredible travel experience.
5. IF YOU COULD BE ANYONE FAMOUS FOR A DAY, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Trailblazing 19th-century journalist Nellie Bly, who travelled around the world in 72 days for an investigative article for the New York World newspaper (and later a book). Kicking off in November 1889, she visited Italy, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan – so seeing any of those destinations through her eyes back then would be fascinating.
6. WHY SUBSCRIBE??
